Maryland Comp has successfully implemented the use of translation memory technology, providing our clients with accurate, consistent translations AND cost and time savings. Translation memory is a practical tool that allows us to reuse previously translated phrases and terms. We store your translation projects in a central database, in which we create a separate translation memory unit for each client. Whenever you send us a new project, we analyze the text against your existing translation memory. This analysis will show us if any parts of the new text have already been translated. If your new project contains previously translated segments, our translators will apply the stored phrases and terms to the new text file, thereby eliminating the need to re-translate duplicate text.

Quality & Consistency
By storing and reusing previously translated phrases and terms, we ensure that the terminology and style are kept consistent throughout any project, and, indeed, from one project to the next. Large projects consisting of multiple pieces, or a web site, for example, are perfect candidates for applying translation memory.
If you already have a preferred list of terminology and/or a translation memory, we encourage you to share this information with us when you send us your projects. This will allow us to preserve continuity and quality between your existing and new translations.
Time Savings
When your project contains large pieces of duplicate text, applying translation memory to the file(s) will decrease our time spent translating. Because our translators can reuse the stored information, they will not need to re-translate every segment in the text.
Even so, using translation memory does not mean that we skip any step in our quality control process. Our translators and proofreaders will still carefully review the entire translation, including the duplicate text that is imported from the translation memory.
Cost Savings
In addition to maintaining high quality translations and faster turnaround times, translation memory also allows us reduce the overall cost to translate your documents. Because our translators need to translate fewer words, your cost will decrease accordingly. We offer lower rates per word for duplicate text. Since we analyze your project before we start translating, we will be able to let you know how much your savings will be right at the beginning!
